Breastfeeding Peer Support

Mid Ulster Mums Breastfeeding Peer Support was established in 2007 in response to the need for mother?to?mother breastfeeding support in the community.

Our Peer Support Mums:

Have personal breastfeeding experience
Completed an extensive OCN?accredited breastfeeding course
Are trained under the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative and the Public Health Agency
Are registered Barnardo’s volunteers
Are friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about supporting breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women

We now aim to make contact with all breastfeeding mothers within 48 hours of hospital discharge.
This service is delivered in partnership with Community Midwifery and Health Visiting Teams.
